Slow down...breathe...fresh air, blue skies and breathtaking views. Stop, smell, see and feel the heartbeat of the Karoo and connect your soul to mother nature.
A&A Adventures is based in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. The geographic region is called the Karoo, and spans more than 400 000 sq km (that's around 250 000 sq miles) over four provinces of South Africa. The name Karoo is derived from a Khoi word, with varying translations, but the most popular is "Place of Thirst", which best describes this arid semi-desert area. Somerset East, our base, is at the foot of the Boschberg mountain, so it is a green oasis amidst the harsh beauty of the Karoo.
Experience the undiscovered beauty that is the Great Karoo which many people with tell you, is best appreciated on your knees. Whether it is the National Parks that border the Karoo, or the ones that boast the spectacular scenery that is the Karoo, experiencing the Eastern Cape is just that, an experience.
The area is steeped in history, from dinosaurs to early settlers. Who knows, you may even find that one of your forefathers is a character that is still spoken of in one of the small towns that dot the landscape.
...and then there is the fly fishing. Have you ever fished under a 90m waterfall, or surrounded by a semi desert? Think "Fly Fishing in the Yemen" with incredibly fertile waters cooled underground and popping up in pools scoured by hippos hundreds of years ago...where you could possibly pick up a 10 lb trout...who knows...Wild Fly Fishing in the Karoo...
